On Monday, September 10th, the Lakeshore Mothers and Others Out Front team organized a meeting to prepare for speaking in favor of the Lighthouse Wind Project at that night's Yates town board meeting. Although Lighthouse Wind was not on the Town Board agenda, 18 community supporters mobilized to express support for the project.
For the three family members, Paul, Cheryl, and Jeremy, it was their first ever town board meeting and Cheryl was one of 12 community supporters to speak in favor of the project.
The Lighthouse Wind project has faced significant opposition, but the tide is turning and community supporters are excited to get engaged to build even more support for the 200MW (53,000 homes) wind project to come to their area: bringing hundreds of jobs during construction, up to 13 full time jobs, ~$1.3million dollars per year in PILOT payments, and on top of all that, clean renewable electricity.
The Lakeshore Mothers and Others Out Front team and Yates community residents say YES to Wind!!!
